Casa da Companhia is one of the 5 most emblematic houses in Flowers Street, built in the 16th century by the family of a merchant noble men of Oporto, called “Brás Brandão”.

In the 18th century, at the time of the Marquis of Pombal, Secretary of Portugal, the house was rented by the Companhia Geral de Agricultura das Vinhas do Alto Douro, currently Real Companhia Velha, one of the oldest and most prestigious companies producing Port Wine.

Some of the city's aristocrats settled at Flower Street. The houses, marked with coats of arms and with beautiful balconies, still exist today and are fine examples of the civil architecture of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
